Turn your iPad or iPhone into a handheld TV

Turn your iPad or iPhone into a handheld TV

The way we watch TV and movies is dramatically changing by the day. Millions of folks are turning to streaming services instead of using traditional cable boxes in an effort to save money and they aren't regretting the switch at all.

That's because there are apps such as Channels that make watching TV without a cable box easy for Apple TV, iPhone and iPad people. With this app you can watch all your favorite shows without a cable box and without missing anything you love to watch.

To get started, the Channels app will need to be downloaded for $14.99. Once downloaded, you'll need to enter your existing current cable subscription information and from there, you can watch live TV, pause, rewind and fast forward local TV, sports and more.

Important Note: You'll need to have an HDHomeRun device in order for the Channels app to work. The HDHomeRun device is a little black box that replaces the big, clunky, dust-collecting cable box you get from your cable provider. This alone can save you money. If you look at your cable bill, you're probably charged each month for renting the cable box. The HDHomeRun helps you eliminate that cost.

With the Channels app, you can also stream sites like Netflix, Hulu and more. Better yet, you can search by network, like ABC or History, rather than trying to remember what number the channel is. You'll also get local sports, local newscasts and more.

Other features include closed captioning, HD quality, easy channel surfing capabilities, program guides and there's even support for surround sound.
