Streaming services are all the rage right now. We love how easy and convenient it is to binge-watch our favorite shows and movies. In fact, some studies predict that online TV and video revenue will reach $15.5 billion in the U.S. by 2020.
So, if you want to jump on the bandwagon, you'll need to decide which streaming services you prefer. There are a ton of sites to watch movies and shows online. But many are illegal. That’s why we’ve rounded up five of the best services out there. From Hulu to HBO, here are the five best sites for streaming your favorite movies and shows.
1. Amazon Prime Video
Not only does an Amazon Prime membership include free shipping on Amazon products, unlimited photo storage, streaming music and free eBooks, but there's also an impressive library of more than 400,000 TV shows and movies available for streaming (and offline) - all for $99 per year.
With a Prime subscription, the only other thing you need is the Amazon Prime Video app and you're all set to watch Amazon original programs like the Emmy-winning "Transparent" and comedy "Alpha House".
The titles available for free streaming will be indicated with a Prime logo in the top left-hand corner of the movie's thumbnail. You can see an example in the app's screenshot above. Other titles will need to be purchased by going to the Amazon home page. Once purchased or rented there, your title will be available for viewing in the video app.
There's now two different options for HBO. There's HBO Go, which is connected to your cable subscription, and now, there's a standalone app called HBO Now that is independent of a cable subscription - you only pay $14.99 per month for all of HBO's great content.
HBO Go and HBO Now gives members access to some of its extremely popular hit shows such as "Game of Thrones", "Band of Brothers," "Sopranos" and "Curb Your Enthusiasm," and countless others.
