If you're in the market for new furniture or some one-of-a-kind antiques, the first place you might look is a site like Craigslist or eBay. Same can be said if you're looking to sell items like desks, dressers, lamps and other home decor.
Lucky for you, Craigslist and eBay aren't your only options. There are lots of other marketplaces near you that are chock-full of cool items you can't find anywhere else. One of those apps is Trove Marketplace and it can help you find, buy, or sell furniture, home decor and antiques.
The Craigslist-like app Trove helps you buy and sell items within your own community, so you don't have to worry about calculating and figuring out shipping costs. However, certain items can be shipped, you'll just have to work that out with the buyer/seller.
Sellers rage from individuals to local vintage shops or second-hand stores, and with the app's built-in chat, you can arrange appointment times with them easily. When it comes times to make or receive a payment, you can use the app to accept credit, or take cash when you meet up to make the exchange.
When I looked for items using Trove Marketplace, I saw some pretty cool stuff. There were lots of couches, dressers, desks and chairs, but there were also unique items and antiques that any impulse buyer could have a field day with.
Keep in mind that the Trove app will ask to use your location. This is only to show you what items are in your area. Trove promises to never reveal a buyer's location to sellers.
If you're browsing or buying, all you need to do is open the app and search. View seller profiles and ratings, make offers, favorite items and chat with the seller to make arrangements if you like what you see.
If you're looking to make a little extra cash or just get rid of items, selling with Trove is relatively easy. You'll need to create an account and listing, which will require a photo and a description of the item and an asking price. You'll also need to set your hours of availability for exchanging the items.
Once transactions are completed, you will be paid securely through the app, which uses direct deposit or Venmo for credit card transactions.
