This year’s Amazon Prime Day has come and gone, but another huge sales event is about to happen. Amazon will host another Prime Day-type event starting Tuesday.
Warning: Scammers wring their hands in anticipation of these big sales. They use the excitement to trick people into handing over personal information or money. Tap or click here to avoid falling victim to these scams.
Amazon’s Prime Early Access sale kicks off at midnight, Oct. 11 and runs through Oct. 12. While there are some great deals to be had, there are also purchases you should avoid for the time being.
October’s Prime sales event
While Amazon calls it the Prime Early Access Sale, you can think of it as a second Prime Day event. The 48-hour sale offers early holiday deals for Prime members.
Before you get all starry-eyed at the prospect of getting some shiny new stuff, be aware that some items will not be great deals or will be priced even lower later.
Hold off on TVs and computers for now
BlackFriday.com put together some tips to help you make smart buying decisions during Amazon’s Prime Early Access sale:
- TVs: Wait until this year’s Black Friday on Nov. 25 to get a TV. You’ll find deals from other retailers besides Amazon, and you can compare and save. However, if you’re interested in one of Amazon’s own Fire TVs, you may get the best deal during this event.
- Computers: Like TVs, you’re better off waiting until Black Friday to get a new laptop or desktop computer. Cyber Monday falls on Nov. 28, which is another good time to get a deal on tech products.
- Check other retailers: Many stores like Best Buy and Target may have sales to compete with Amazon, so be sure to price shop.
