Not an Amazon Prime member? Sign up before this big milestone

Mark your calendars, as Amazon’s annual Prime Day is just around the corner. Well, sort of. There has still been no official word about when the actual day will be, but it’s always good to be ready.

Many people look forward to Prime Day every year. Next to Black Friday, it is one of the annual shopping occasions to score some huge bargains — if you know all the tips and tricks.

Apart from knowing the prices and whether you will save money, the most important thing you will need for Prime Day is an Amazon Prime membership. Without it, you can miss out. Read on for some Prime details you won’t want to miss.

Here are the details on Prime

Speculation aside, the annual event will most likely take place at the end of June. That still leaves you with ample time to grab a Prime membership and get familiar with what it offers.

Let’s get the most important question out of the way first – how much does it cost? An annual Prime membership will set you back $119, and monthly membership will cost you $12.99. It works out to be about $3 a month cheaper to go the annual route.

A Prime membership gives you access to:

  • Prime Video streaming service
  • Ad-free music streaming on Amazon Music
  • Unlimited photo storage
  • Unlimited reading through Amazon Kindle

There is no distinction between the annual or monthly plan perks, but there is an $8.99 Prime Video service for those without a Prime membership. This only allows you access to the Prime Video streaming service.

What else is included in Prime?

In addition to the above-mentioned services, there are some other perks that come with a membership.

Amazon recently rolled its Prime Now service into the main app and website, but you can still get super-fast deliveries. You are also entitled to free two-day delivery on prescription medication from Amazon Pharmacy. Tap or click here to see how Amazon is making a big change to its fastest delivery option.

As a member, you will be notified 30 minutes before anybody else of any Lightning Deals being made available. This also includes exclusive deals from Whole Foods Market, where you can place an order and have it delivered in two hours in select markets.

Prime and entertainment

Membership doesn’t just give you access to shopping deals, but also to millions of entertainment options. Through Prime Video, you have access to all the video streaming content available, which includes Amazon Originals, films and series.

For music lovers, membership provides access to Amazon Music. The audio streaming service rivals Spotify and Apple Music. And it’s ad-free. For even more available songs, subscribe to Amazon Music Unlimited.

If you prefer things a bit quieter, Prime membership allows you to read as many books as you can through Amazon Kindle Unlimited. This includes e-books, magazines and comics.

Deals to watch out for

Last year’s Prime Day focused heavily on products suited towards working from home. Since vaccines have steadily been rolling out and over 50% of adults have had the shot, Amazon is making changes too.

That means you can look out for deals around family, traveling and entertaining. Steep discounts can be expected on:

  • Televisions
  • Home entertainment systems
  • Gadgets like headphones, game consoles and accessories
  • Outdoor gym equipment
  • Travel accessories
  • Outdoor activities and camping

As usual, there will also be special prices on Amazon’s own hardware like the Kindle, Echo Show 8, Fire TV Stick, and possibly Ring’s video doorbell.
