Q. I'm very concerned about my privacy. That's particularly true when I'm surfing the Internet. Unfortunately, I can also be fairly forgetful. Is there something that will clear out my browser automatically when I'm done? I don't want to have to clear it out manually. —Arthur in Grand Junction, CO, listening on KNZZ 1100 AM
A. Your Web history says a lot about you. It can reveal health issues, relationship issues, financial issues. This stuff is private. You don't want anyone else mucking around in it.
As you point out, though, clearing the browser can be difficult to remember. Fortunately, though, there are solutions for most of the popular browsers. They won't automatically clear out the browser. Instead, the computer is prevented from storing data in the first place.
It's called privacy mode. However, for obvious reasons, many refer to it as porn mode. IE8, Safari, Google's Chrome and Firefox all have it.
Privacy mode blocks private data and cookies from being recorded. It also blocks your Web history and search history.
