Build your own photo book

Q. I’m a professional photographer. Clients of mine would like a quality album. I want to make a hardbound photo book--like a coffee-table book. Can you suggest someone who makes such a product? What’s the best value?

A. Coffee-table photography books are very cool. The large photos can fill a page. Interesting or funny captions can add context and theme. Offering such a product could be good for your business.

But you don’t have to be a professional photographer. Anyone can make one of these books. And it doesn’t have to cost a lot. There are quite a few services that can help.

Shutterfly

This photo-sharing site makes building a book easy. Create an account and upload your photos. Then design the book right on the site.

Shutterfly is a good choice if you want a themed book. It has themes for all occasions. Choose from Valentine’s Day, travel, sports, birthdays, baby books and more. Themes offer special cover designs and page layouts.

There are several design options in each theme. But the customization isn’t very deep. That’s OK, if you find a theme you like. If not, other services offer greater customization.
