Find scholarship funds online

Q. Do you know any information related to college scholarships? My daughter will be attending Lehigh this fall, and I want to drop the cost as much as I can. Thank you!
-Bill from Layfayette, LA, listens to my national radio show on KPEL 96.5 FM.

A. Congratulations! You must be so proud of your daughter. I hope you don't miss her too much when she's off in chilly Pennsylvania!

These days, an education isn't cheap. Lehigh's website estimates the average cost of attendance at more than $50,000 a year! More and more families are spending six figures for a 4-year degree.

You don't have to bury your family in loan debt, though. There are thousands of dollars available in scholarships; you just have to look in the right places.

Scholarships aren't just for exceptional students or varsity athletes any more - they range from the practical to the bizarre. Your child could win money for majoring in Biology or for playing the bagpipes. You'd be surprised at the variety available.

You can find great scholarship information all over the Web. First, you should look into financial aid.

FinAid will walk you through the financial aid process, while CollegeScholarships and College Toolkit tell you about grants and scholarships, in addition to how to apply for financial aid.
