Not long ago, I found true stories about the dangers of MySpace.com. If your children aren't convinced by parental advice, they can read for themselves how often others are lured and molested.
The terrible stories continue to make their way into the news. That's because MySpace allows complete anonymity. And there's no way to know how old people really are. It's a magnet for young children and teens who don't consider who views their photos or reads their blogs.
MySpace is a magnet for pedophiles. All too often they outsmart kids by using fake personas or deceptive and harmful advice.
This week I've got more stories to share with you. Ask yourself this: Would my children be able to recognize or resist a kind ear or seemingly sage advice from a stranger? Kids may be computer savvy, but they still need parents' help making the right choices. MySpace can provide too much of the real world.
It's easy to get involved. You can start by finding out if your children are on MySpace.com. The site provides a search, and many kids list their full names, school names or even phone numbers. That's part of the problem.
