There's no doubt that consumers and retailers have been rocked by the huge data breaches at Target and Home Depot, compromising the debit and credit card information for tens of millions of customers (plus the online account information of many more).
Since then P.F. Chang's, Jimmy Johns and plenty of other restaurants, retailers and websites have been hit. In many cases, hackers stole and in some cases sold off credit and debit card information. In fact, security researchers think that nearly half of the credit cards in the U.S. are at risk.
This series of events has left many people wondering if it's time to switch back to cash.
While I don't think we should abandon plastic entirely, there are some places where using cash is better for security. And it shouldn't be much less convenient than using a card.
