Q. I've had my iPad for about a year now and I truly love it. However, my two Lionheads seem to like the Lightning cord a little too much. They've chewed through four different cables and keep going for a fifth. With how much Apple charges for Lightning connectors, I'd like to keep it intact. Do you have any tips that can help?

A. I do, but I've got a special idea just for you, Lou. As I discuss in this tip, you don't need to pay a premium for Apple's exclusive Lightning cables. Try my retractable Lightning cable instead. Your cute bunnies will be less likely to sink their teeth into it!

However, this problem isn't unique to your furry friends. A new study says pets destroy about 8 million electronics every year! I've heard horror stories about bunnies and cords, but dogs and cats can be just as bad.

It's not just cables, either. Pets can chew through a tablet or jump on you and make you drop your gadget. That's not even mentioning how terrible shed fur is for your tech gear.

You don't have to give up technology or give the pets away, though. You don't need to completely retrain Fido and Fluffy, either. These simple tips will help your pets and your gadgets live in harmony.
