3 ways to rent out your room, house or apartment

3 ways to rent out your room, house or apartment

This weekend is (or was, depending on when you're reading this) "the Big Game" and it's taking place in Phoenix, Arizona, where I live. As you can imagine, hotel space is nearly nonexistent with any vacant rooms going for crazy high prices.

I had a friend who was going to be in town on unrelated business and she couldn't find any hotel room in our area for less than $300 a night. That's bad for her, but events like this are potentially good for you, if you know how to cash in.

No matter where you live, if you have a spare room, or you're going to be out of town during a major event or even just part of tourist season, you can earn good money by renting your room, apartment or house. Lots of travelers will pay top rates to stay in a furnished home rather than an impersonal hotel.

In fact, I rented out my mother's former home this weekend and made a nice chunk of change, which beats paying money for the house to just sit empty. Now, I'm going to tell you how you can do the same thing; that is, earning money with your spare room, apartment or home, not renting out my mother's house.

Shameless plug: Coming to visit the Phoenix, Scottsdale or Paradise Valley area? If so, my Mom has a gorgeous rental available anytime, year round. Just check out the photos here. Fully furnished, centrally located, close to hiking and heck, maybe I will even stop by to say hello! Click here now to check it out. Tell Mom, “Kim sent me!” for a discount or maybe even a free night’s stay.
