You didn’t say if the photos were on a memory card or a hard drive. This will make a difference. The program you use must support the media.
A chart on my site lists several free recovery programs. I created the chart because this is an all-too-common problem.
Do not use the card or hard drive until you recover the photos. If you do, you could overwrite them. If the photos are on a hard drive, don’t download a program to it. Instead, run the file recovery program from a thumb drive.
On a related note, people do careless things with memory cards. For example, sometimes they run them through the washing machine. Find out how to deal with that eventuality. |
