How do I change my e-mail address?
To have Kim's newsletters delivered to a different e-mail address, follow the steps given here.

You will receive an e-mail to confirm that you want to receive Kim's newsletters. If you don't receive this e-mail in your inbox, check your junk or spam folders.

E-mail programs sometimes route Kim's newsletters to junk or spam folders, too. To avoid that, add Kim's newsletters to your approved list.

Printing HTML E-mail
To print a copy of my HTML e-mail without the images: Hold the left button of the mouse down and drag it over the portion you want printed. On the browser, click File>>Print. Pick Selection.

This technique works in Outlook, Eudora, most Web mail programs (Yahoo! Mail, Gmail, etc.) and other e-mail programs.

If Selection is not available in your print window, select the portion you want to print. Click Edit>>Copy, and then open a word processing program (Word, Wordpad, etc.). Click File>>New, and then click Edit>>Paste. Click File>>Print.

AOL:
- HTML is not supported for version 5.0 or earlier. To view HTML e-mail you will need to upgrade or use a free e-mail account (Yahoo! Mail, Hotmail, etc.).

- Images may not display by default. Click on the "Show images & enable links" button.

If you are receiving the message "Sending mail attachments or embedded files with this account is not permitted," please set your Mail Controls to allow mail containing pictures and files.

1. On the AOL Toolbar, click MAIL, then click BLOCK UNWANTED MAIL. You can also go to AOL Keyword: Mail and Spam Controls.

2. In the Select the Screen Name drop-down menu, select the Screen Name whose Mail Controls you wish to adjust. For screen names in a General Access category, you can only adjust the Mail Controls for that screen name.

3. Next to Content Filter, click EDIT.

4. Uncheck 'Block messages containing pictures or files', then click SAVE.

5. Click SAVE to close the Mail and Spam Controls window.

Note: You need to be signed on to a Master Screen Name or a screen name on a General Access category to adjust the Mail Controls. A Master Screen Name is the first screen name you created for this account and any screen name you have assigned Master Screen Name status at AOL Keyword: Names.

I can't read the newsletter on my cell phone.
To give you the best looking newsletter we can, we use HTML features like tables. Many e-mail programs on cell phones or other non-computer devices can't display this type of formatting, even though they may be able to display some HTML formatting, like bold or colors.

Check with the provider of your cell service. The provider may have an upgrade. Otherwise, you will not be able to read the HTML newsletters in your e-mail program.

However, it is possible that your browser can read the HTML. To test that, try subscribing to the newsletters through a Web e-mail service, such as Yahoo! or MSN.

Strange characters showing up in newsletters.
The code you are seeing (like ’) is the most modern form of Hyper Text Markup Language, which is used to construct our newsletters. It is not displaying properly because your e-mail or Web browser program is obsolete. Also, be sure that you have all Windows updates.

Most e-mail programs are free. That is also true of browsers. You can solve this problem by downloading and installing the latest versions.

Using old software is dangerous. There are many threats on the Internet that take advantage of flaws in obsolete programs. So you will be doing yourself a favor by updating to the latest software.

Firefox is my Web browser. But links open in IE.
You may have improper settings. There are a couple things you can do:

1) Check your program defaults. Click Start>>Control Panel. Double-click Add or Remove Programs. On the left, click Set Program Access and Defaults.

You will find three choices. Select the Custom option. The first section shows you default Web browsers. Select your default Web browser and uncheck  the other boxes.

2) Change your File Type associations. Click Start>>Control Panel (for Windows ME and 98 users, Start>>Settings>>Control Panel). Double-click Folder Options. Select the File Types tab. Make sure the following File Types are associated with your default Web browser:

HTM
HTML
URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol with Privacy URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol

To change an association, click the File Type  to highlight it. Click Change. Highlight the correct program. Click the box next to "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file." Click OK. If the Change button is grayed out, click the Advanced button. On the Edit File Type window, click the Edit button and then the Browse button and locate and select your default Web browser. Then click the OK buttons to save your changes.

I signed up for your newsletters, but have not received them.
When you sign up for my newsletters, you are automatically sent an e-mail to confirm your subscription. You must click on the link inside that e-mail to confirm. If you cannot click on the link, highlight it. Depress Ctrl and click C to copy it. Then click on your address bar. Depress Ctrl and click V to paste it. Click Go or Enter. Once you are confirmed, your newsletters will start on the next sending cycle.

I want to add/cancel a newsletter subscription.
Kim's Club members: You must first sign into your account. Then click on Newsletter Preferences. Check the newsletter you want to receive and click SAVE CHANGES. If you wish to cancel a newsletter, uncheck the newsletter you DO NOT want and click SAVE CHANGES.

Non-Kim's Club members: Click on Free Newsletters. Under Manage Newsletters, click on Change your Newsletters. Enter your subscribed e-mail address and click NEXT. Check the newsletter you want to receive and click UPDATE in Step 3. If you wish to remove any newsletter, uncheck the newsletter you DO NOT want and click UPDATE in Step 3.

My newsletters suddenly stopped. Why?
Many things could have happened. Your ISP could have adjusted its spam filters. Or it could be experiencing mail problems. Try these steps:

  1. Be sure the newsletters are not being blocked by spam filters on your computer. The newsletters could be in your spam, bulk, trash, or junk mail folders. If so, set up a rule to route them to your inbox or another folder. Yahoo users: Disable SpamGuard and wait for the next sending cycle. If the newsletters appear, establish a filter rule and re-enable SpamGuard.
  2. Ask your ISP if its spam filters are blocking the newsletters. Ask if the newsletters can be added to any protected lists. Also ask if there have been mail server problems with your account.
  3. Be sure you are on the subscriber list. Click Free Newsletters on my home page. Click Change Your Newsletters. Enter your e-mail address and click NEXT. Newsletters to which you are subscribed will be checked. If necessary, check the newsletter you are not receiving. Click UPDATE. You will receive a confirmation e-mail. You must click the link to verify your subscription. If the link does not work, copy and paste it into your Web browser's address bar.
  4. If the above does not work, contact List Support.

How do I stop getting duplicates of your newsletters?
There are several possible solutions:

  1. You might be signed up under multiple e-mail addresses. To check, review the TO: field of each newsletter. If there are different addresses, unsubscribe the extras here.
  2. Mail filter rules may be creating multiple copies of the newsletters. Review your rules.
  3. Your mail server may cause the multiple copies. The server might not recognize that the newsletters have downloaded. It could download the newsletters repeatedly. Ask your ISP to check your account and its mail servers.
  4. If a Web hosting service maintains your e-mail, it might create duplicates. This happens if the service does not allow you to delete downloaded e-mail automatically. Instead, it stays on the server. That e-mail can be downloaded repeatedly. To resolve that, delete the e-mail from the server after each download. Or simply read the e-mail on the server, rather than downloading it.
  5. You could be mistaking different newsletters for the same one. Kim has four newsletters. The weekly newsletter is dispatched on Saturday. The Cool Site of the Day goes out every day. The News of the Day and Tip of the Day are published Monday through Friday. If you want to cancel a newsletter, click Change Your Newsletters. Enter your e-mail address and click NEXT. Uncheck the newsletter you no longer want and click UPDATE.
  6. If the above does not resolve your problem, please contact List Support.

Add my e-mails to your approved list.
