Directly above organize---stream---create playlist you should see Library > Music > Artist. R click on that bar and place a check beside Show menu bar. Once the Menu Bar is visible then click on Play > DVD, VCD or CD audio

Got that far, because of your patience, when I hit play nothing, and the stuff under play/pause are visable but grayed. These buttons-stop,dvd,vcd,or aduio cd previous next rewind fastforward.Shuffle is under fastforward and is black(active)along with the rest of the options quote: Originally posted by momndadmc1

Evidently WMP got corrupted during the install. I did a clean install and mine works perfectly. I don't think codecs are the problem either.
At this point I would remove and reinstall WMP. Doesn't work anyway, so you have nothing to lose.
WMP is located in Control Panel > Programs and Features > Turn Windows features on or off > Media Features. Expand Media Features and you can uninstall from there. Might need your install disc for the reinstall.

Hi Jeffrey,
Here is another article from Microsoft telling you how to play DVD's and what could be the problem which sounds like the one you are having now.
Some of it even sounds like what Chris told you.

I have a copy of Win7 which I just installed (clean install to a different partition) last week. I hadn't tried playing a commercial DVD, but I just tried it and it played without a hitch in Windows Media Center.

Hi Jeffrey, Are you having a "Senior Moment" like I do and many others on this board as you never gave me the impression you were that old. "Senior Moments do not occur until you get 60 or above but below??"
Glad you got it to work for you.
You have heard the ole sang which goes experience is the best teacher and that applies to anything from *** to computers to automobiles.
