I am using Windows XP SP3 - 256 Ram
I got a message that my computer was low on virtual memory and later I got another message while downloading an e-mail as follows:
MESSAGE FROM WEBPAGE
Out of memory at line : 1567

What does one do with this? I wish I could remember all the advice I read on this message board, I would be well educated in computer
usage, but my brain is old.

Thanks for all the wonderful help given freely here.
BJ

You may have too many programs running. 256K RAM is not very much these days. Best thing to do is save what you can, turn off and reboot. Check either with Ccleaner in the tools area->startup or Start->Run->Type in: msconfig ->Hit Go then go to the startup tab. If you have more than 10 programs listed there you have too many and they are taking up your meager memory..

You can post the list here and we will tell you which to remove or you can look them up on www.Sysinfo.org and see which ones can be removed.

In any event with only 256k memory you really should not run too many programs at once.

As far as start up programs you really do not need any more than what you need for your security programs as the rest can always be turned on or off the next day.
