You guys have helped me so much, a few months ago I purchased a new computer, A Dell Studio 540 with Vista, doing ok so far, But I must have some settings wrong, I can't seem to download some things, one is I want to download picasa, for my pictures, it stops and will not finish it says my user name/ documents, picasa 3.5 setupexc. is not a valid win 32 application. When I went to download the set up that is where I saved it. mmmmm also, I am trying to down load some games one is text twist on yahoo. but have tried other sites, it just sits and will now download any games. I have turned off my firewalls trying and changed my security settings. I use to have Norton I uninstalled that and am using the free AVG and spy bot, anyone have any suggestions? Oh I cleaned cookies and so on, I was trying to look up what is suppose to be in each security setting on the interent exployer. Not sure what a scriptlet is but it is disabled. Ok Thanks for your time again. Kited67

You mentioned you did not know what a SCRIPLET is and disabled it?? Maybe that is part of your problem right there as from the definition it is used over and over an over and over on your computer.

Dustin, I am sorry, I must of confused you. I didn't change any of the interent settings, just the firewalls when I looked at the interent security settings, The Scriplet is already disabled, And some other things. I tried looking on interent exployer to see what the settings are, suppose to be, you know what is enabled and disabled. My computer is at the orginal settings that it came as, I was just looking to see what was clicked and unclicked. So does that mean the scriblet should be enabled? Anything else? I appricate any help thanks Kited67

You will probably have to enable scriptlets (Javascript) to complete the installation of Picasa. While they are enabled, you may notice things on this site operating differently, for example, you may notice more of the advertising showing up on the right of the message board pages. Another thing which you may notice (if you visit www.youtube.com or the video section of this site) is that you can use the controls to view, pause, and control the audio volume on video from the web. All of these are controlled by javascript. You are more secure if javascript is disabled, because javascript runs on your computer even if you just linger in a spot on the screen where a javascript is active, but most web controls require either Active-X or Javascript to activate.

I enabled the scriptlets and I now have Picasa downloaded so thank you. I still can not download text twist or other games. but that is no problem.
I use to get information on tv for interent settings. I looked on Kim's site, but couldn't find what each thing in the interent security settings meant. Is there some where I can go so I can put my computer on the proper settings. Also anytime I want to do anything I have to give the internet exployer permission. Which is good but some times very anoying. when I do things over and over, is there a setting I change for that? Thanks for the hope. I am on dial up so everthing takes long, so I can not watch you tuble :( it only runs 2 sec at a time. Some day will have DSL or a wireless interent we can use. Thanks for the help :) kited67

The constant asking if you REALLY want to do this, is from User Access Control (UAC) and is a 'feature' of Vista. It is part of an attempt to make users more security conscious, but many users are more annoyed than grateful. This link is to Kim's article on Tweak-UAC, which gives you the capability to turn UAC quiet or restore its function without rebooting.

Sorry, I just did not explain it all the way as I knew what you meant and I should have said in the first place that you would probably have to enable the scriplets to download Picasa and alot of the other software programs and even Kim's Message Board too.

If you are having a problem with a particular game, I also have a Yahoo! account and could investigate to see what may be causing your problem.

Hi, if it is frozen it may not be Yahoo it could be your computer and in that case turn off computer for 30 seconds and then reboot. I tried the games and they worked for me.

That is what my ISP advised me to do when it is frozen like that try that and see if it works for you....it may or may not...good luck.
