When I play a dvd movie the dialogue is too low and the background sounds/music is too loud. Have windows XP 5 yr old Gateway computer. I turn the sound as high as possible but the background music drowns the dialogue out. Help
My recommendation would be to check to insure that you have the latest version of Directx and your sound card audio drivers. I believe the latest version of Directx is 9.0c. You can check this by going to start->run->type in: "dxdiag". Look om the first page and see the version. You can also check your sound capabilities on the sound tab.
To check your audio drivers you will have to know the manufacturer of the sound chip. You can look on the site of that manufacturer or on the site of your computer manufacturer to see if there are upgrades to the drivers. You can also check to see if Microsoft has any updates listed on their update site. They have a category for drivers.
If you are having trouble with this please report back with the exact Make and Model of your computer and the description of your sound card which you can find in the sound Tab in the dxdiag mensioned above. Please tell us the name of the device and the driver name and version information. Then we can help you find drivers.
You might also check the package the DVD came in to see if there are any special sound requirements and make sure your computer has these.
Another posibility is that your computer being 6 years old that you have an onboard sound card that does not have the required capabilities for the latest DVDs. In that case you might have to purchase an upgraded sound card.
