How can I remove the backdoor tidserv virus without re doing my hard drive?

I recommend the stand alone Microsoft Security Sweeper to do a good cleaning of your system. Download it and click on it to make the CD then boot from it and run it. Takes a couple hours, but does a thorough job.

For root kits I recommend TDSSKiller by Kaspersky.

Run them both.
