quote: Sorry to bust your bubble, but I saw this 2-3 weeks ago, and shortly after I viewed it, it was revealed that that catch was made by a stunt girl, not the real ball girl.
Oh well, so she is a fake... Still caught the ball though, so I will give her that. Evidently she had the announcers fooled. And now I have to break the news to my brother-in-law who sent me the link in the first place... What a World, what a world...But my bubble is still intact, his, on the other hand, might be a little popped. I guess the moral of this story is, I spend too much time on Komando and should watch some baseball... Ha ! like that is going to happen. Thanks Billmellon Renae |

Even though it was a stunt girl, I still think it was an amazing leap and catch. Sure put the left fielder to shame.

Yep, and even though a stunt girl, you can not script that. So, I think it was a Fantastic catch and you are right about the Left Fielder. He He So... Sign her up. |

You are so right, infohound. It is incredibly heartbreaking and we need to remember our own country, too, when we pray for Georgia and the rest of the world. It's not a matter of if but when, because things like that will come to our own shores before too long.

The US is flying Georgian troops stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan back to Georgia to help defend their country. Russian military is so overwhelming that they need all the help in Georgia they can get. What a shame that the break up of the Soviet Union is coming to this so many years later. The US should condemn Russia for doing this.

We had the same problem in the Chesapeake with a fish that was from China, walked on land from water body to water body. It took a while for them to get rid of it. It was a snakehead fish. They suspect that it was part of an aquarium and was released into the wild when it got to big. This type of fish was commonly kept in aquariums in Chinatown in Manhattan. How it got to Maryland is still unknown. It survived by eating all the other fish in the water near it. Could have been really devastating to already fragile stocks of rockfish, crabs etc.
Thanks for the link Renae. It just shows how careful we have to be in our hobbies.

Animal Planet has a show called Miami Animal Cops. They often feature segments about the capture of large snakes in Miami Dade. Most of the time, it is because a pet owner loses the snake. I hate to say it but maybe it is time to outlaw ownership of the python, like they do other exotic animals.

Hey, don't outlaw some of these entirely! Just limit them to appropriate locations: Exotic tropical animals and snakes will probably not cause any problems in northern Minnesota (at least in winter!) Exotic fish could be kept safely in Death Valley, too!
For those who want exotic land carnivores as private citizens, if they want to create and live in an underwater habitat, have at it .
Sorry, I had to say that. I have little sympathy for those who want to keep exotic animals as private individuals. Most just have them for novelty, and when the novelty wears off, they abandon the animals.
I was raised on a farm, and you don't get animals to which you can't take full care.

I would not be to quick to say they don't cause harm in the northern states. A cop in Michigan had to shoot a python to death as it was attacking vehicles on the highway.
And I agree with you. Owning any kind of animal as a pet is a lifetime commitment. If you can't take care of the animal after the novelty wears off, then you should not have it in the first place. That is why our animal shelters are so full. Families take the plunge, then the novelty wears off, and the animal winds up at a shelter, and often doesn't get another home. I have long had pets, and kept them till I had to euthanize for health reasons or they died a natural death. I currently have three (2 dogs and a cat). They offer so much love and affection. I could never give them up.

In Florida, that cop would have went to jail and fined $500! If we shot every Alligator that attacked a car, we would probably run out of alligators. Funny sight, there was an alligator that attacked every other car at the airport. He sank his teeth into about 20 cars before he gave up. The only authority authorized to put down any kind of wild life is the Florida fish and wild life in Florida. Police are subject to the same punishments as citizens when it comes to wild life. The only time a citizen or police can shot a wild animal is if a human life is in danger. NOT CARS! If you are caught feeding an alligator, it is a first degree felony which includes both one year imprisonment and $1,000 fine. |

Wow, over 12 hours with the message board down. I must have tried it 25 times at least. Just heard on the evening news about bad storms in Phoenix.
