Q. I can't see the video. Why is there just a blank black screen?
A. If you click to watch a video and there's only a blank screen in the player window,
wait a minute or so and see if the video player catches up.
If you're still left with a blank screen in the player window, first check to see that you can play HTML5 video.
It works on:
Internet Explorer (9 or later) (hover over the video to start playback)
Google Chrome (14 or later)
iPhone (3G or later / iOS4 or later)
iPod
iPad (iOS4 or later)
Safari (5 or later)
If you wish to watch the videos in HTML5, please upgrade or switch your browser to one listed above.
Otherwise the video will automatically use Adobe Flash.
If you're still left with a blank screen in the player window, check to see that you can play Flash content on your
system. Go to Kim's home page, www.Komando.com, and see if Kim "pops up" just to the left of the Show Picks,
Tip of the Day and Cool Site of the Day links.
If Kim does pop up, you have a Flash player installed but either your firewall (or possibly your anti-virus) program is
blocking the video feed. In your firewall's configuration settings, locate a the option to be
prompted to allow or block connections as they are attempted. Then try the TVKim.com video feed again, and "allow" the new connection
request.
If you continue to experience a blank screen, please contact your firewall or anti-virus provider for instructions to "permission" a video feed.
Q. When I watch a video why does it hesitate, pause or stop?
A. If a video hesitates, pauses or stops during play, please first check that your
system meets the TVKim.com minimum system requirements.
If it does meet the requirements and you still experience hesitation, pause or you lose the connection, it's likely your local bandwidth may be overtaxed. Please try again at a later time. You should also check your connection speed at the time you encounter problems. Click here to test your connection speed. If your speed isn't what your service provider advertises, contact your ISP and have them check it out.
If you continue to experience problems, there is probably a configuration setting in your browser or security/firewall application on your system preventing the normal play of streaming video. Try performing an Internet search for "video streaming" and specifics about your browser and system. You may need the assistance of a computer repair professional. You may also contact TVKim customer support.
Q. When I watch Kim's Show live (only when live) why does it have jumpy, jittery or "back and forth" playback?
A. The problem is Hardware Acceleration. This must be disabled in the Flash player settings.
1. Control-click (or Right-click) any Flash video player
2. Select "Settings..."
3. Uncheck "Enabled hardware acceleration"
4. Click "Close"
5. Refresh the page that the video is exhibiting the above symptoms. This will disable hardware acceleration GLOBALLY for all Flash players and video.

A. There are many variables that determine how much bandwidth you will "consume" while watching Kim's videos.
Listed below are approximations of how much bandwidth is used.
Kim's Show, live stream: 360MB/hour (1GB for the three hour Show)
Kim's Show, on-demand: 370MB/hour (1.1GB to watch three one-hour segments.)
Kim's Video Essays: 20MB/each (about 5MB per minute)

Q. Why do some videos (especially "Kim's Picks") begin playing automatically?
A. YouTube made a code change that causes youtube.com embedded videos (like some of those used on TVKim.com) to automatically start playing.
Until YouTube updates their code we are "stuck" with this autoplay issue. You can click the pause button (bottom-left corner of the player) to stop the play manually, and then click the start button when you want to resume playback of the video.
