It's a simple matter for a hacker to steal data from an unencrypted Internet connection. That's why banks and financial institutions all use encryption.

However, not every website does, or stops using encryption after you've signed in, which leaves you vulnerable.

Make sure encryption is always turned on using the browser add-on HTTPS Everywhere.

When encryption is active, an indicator will appear in the address bar next to the site URL.

Note: This add-on may cause some sites to appear broken, especially in Chrome. To fix this, you can exclude the site in the add-on settings.
