I’ve said it a thousand times. And I’ll say it again. Back up your computer. You can’t trust a single device to protect all your important files. Hard drives fail. Computers can be attacked. Back up your important data.
Mac users have a handy backup tool built into their computers. Macs come with a program called Time Machine. It makes backing up data easy and automatic. But it has an important limitation.
Time Machine can only back up to drives attached with a cable. That means no backing up over a home network. That is, unless you purchase Apple’s Time Capsule storage device. This limits the flexibility of backing up on a Mac.
iTimeMachine gives you the ability to back up over a network. This is especially helpful if you have a laptop. It doesn’t have to be tethered to a drive for backing up.
