Apple has long suggested that Macs don’t require security software. And to some extent that‘s true. Compared to Windows machines, far fewer attacks are targeted at Macs.
That said, I’ve never bought the idea that Macs are invulnerable. No system is completely secure. There have been pieces of malware written for Macs. And Apple routinely patches security vulnerabilities in its operating systems.
Security software for Macs is few and far between. And you’ll end up paying for most options. But PC Tools (one of my advertisers) is offering free protection for Mac users.
iAntiVirus offers real-time protection against attacks. It will also scan for and quarantine infections. And like all good security software, it receives regular updates.
