No doubt, computers can ease our lives and increase our productivity. But technology isn't without its annoyances.
One of the biggest complaints I hear concerns the onslaught of spam. And it's true. The overwhelming majority of e-mail messages are spam.
Spam is much more than an annoyance. It can seriously jeopardize your computer's security.
You don't need to stop using e-mail, though. You just need a better spam filter. I recommend a Bayesian filter. These filters use algorithms to detect junk e-mail.
Bayesian filters assign messages a score. If a message receives a low score, it doesn't make it through to your inbox. And Bayesian filters improve the more you use them!
SpamBayes is a great free Bayesian filter. It is available as an Outlook plug-in. Or, you can download a standalone version. It sits between the e-mail server and your e-mail program.
