In Windows 8, Microsoft made the controversial decision to drop the usual Start button for a Start screen. The Start screen does have its merits, especially on touch-based systems, but many people miss the Start button.

Fortunately, long-time Windows-tweaking company Stardock has a solution. It's released a free program called Start8.

Start8 adds the Start button back to the taskbar and tweaks the Start screen for easier use with a mouse. If you're using Windows 8 on a non-touch computer, this is one tweak you definitely want to try.
