Personal storage and file sharing in the cloud

Personal storage and file sharing in the cloud

Used to be, when we exchanged files, we used floppies. After all, people didn't have videos on their computers. And not many people had photos. So files were small.

Hardly anybody uses floppies today. Jeez, you'd need a truckload to hold a video!

A good way to swap files today is over the Internet. But Internet service providers won't accept big email attachments. So, you need to use specialized websites.

You can also use these sites to store often-used files. You'll have access to them anywhere you have an Internet connection. Keep personal files password protected. You can share files with friends. Or drop them in a public folder for the world to see.

OneDrive is from Microsoft's Windows Live. Think of it as an extra hard drive on the Web. And what does it cost? Zip. You have to sign up or log in with your Windows Live ID. You can store up 15GB of data.
