This time of year, you're probably thinking about taking a vacation. No matter what you do every day, you need a chance to refresh your brain.

If you're a high-powered executive, a stay-at-home dad chasing after kids all day, a student or retiree, you have too much going on. We all do. That includes the nonstop barrage of messages you get all day.

It's almost impossible to turn off, too. You can switch off all your computers, tablets and smartphones. But what if there's an emergency and someone really needs to get through?

So, you keep everything turned on. Ding, ding, ding. The messages keep coming in, one after the other.

But there is an easy way to disconnect. It's called Inbox Pause. It works with Google's Gmail. If you're not using Gmail, your family and friends are. About 1 billion people have a Gmail account. (See social media share buttons below.)

When you pause your incoming emails with Inbox Pause, you don't lose anything. As soon as you're ready to tackle the world again, you just un-pause and all the emails that were blocked will come into your Gmail inbox.
