Multitask on an older version of Windows

Multitask on an older version of Windows

If you like Microsoft's Windows 8, you can't help but notice that you won't be able to use it much longer. For one thing, Microsoft has been aggressively switching users over to Windows 10, its newest operating system.

Microsoft recently said it won't provide security updates for Windows 8 any longer. Plus, microprocessor makers like Intel will no longer be supporting Windows 8 or earlier versions with their new chips. However, Microsoft will continue to support Windows 8.1 until 2023.

If you're a "glass half full" type of person, you may be thinking, "Great. I have a few more years with Windows 8." If so, there's more good news.

There's a fun and useful Toolbox for Windows 8 that'll help you to be more productive, if you like to multitask. With Toolbox, you can have up to six active apps, or tools, open at a time. (See photo below.) There are 15 tools you can choose from, including a Web browser, calculator, Facebook, world clock, RSS, calendar, and more.
