Pixar knows a thing or two about animation and rendering software. After all, it is the world-famous studio behind classics like "Toy Story," "Finding Nemo" and other great titles. Now, the studio is putting its powerful tools in your hands. It's true. Pixar has made its RenderMan software available to you for no cost.

RenderMan is Pixar's proprietary 3-D rendering software that the studio uses to create all of its movies, so you know it's good. It's an industry-leading program that can be used to render realistic 3-D camera effects, shading, fur and hair, textures and much more.

RenderMan used to cost $1,300 but now you can use it absolutely free. There's only one catch. Pixar is making RenderMan free for non-commercial purposes only. If you want to use RenderMan for your business, you're still going to have to pay up. But, Pixar even reduced the price on its commercial product to $495 for one license.
