What exactly is a driver and why do you need to update it?

A "driver" is the software that your computer uses to communicate with external hardware, like USB drives and printers. So if your drivers haven't been updated in a while, chances are when you try to use these external components, they won't work.

It's like your computer and the other piece of hardware are speaking different languages. You can't print anything or access the files on your USB drive because the computer can't make heads or tails of the information.

Outdated drivers can also cause system crashes, have hidden security vulnerabilities, as well as cause other conflicts and hardware failures.

So like with anything else tech, you want to make sure everything is up to date and ready to go.

In most cases on a PC, you can manually check for updates by going to the Windows Update in the Control Panel. But I've found a solution that can locate these drivers for you and update them, too!
