File comparison tool that really works

File comparison tool that really works

Say you're going through your computer and cleaning out unwanted files. You stumble across a directory with two versions of the same file and want to know the differences between an older version and a newer version before you delete one.

You could open both files and put them in side-by-side windows to try and spot the differences. If the files are long or the differences are subtle, though, you might easily miss something.

That's where a file-comparison tool comes in handy. It can instantly pinpoint the differences and show you what they are.

Word has a tool built-in to deal with Word files. Just open Word and go to the Review tab and then click Compare. If you want to compare other text-based files, HTML, CSS or other programming files though, you'll want something different.
