Tell me if this sounds familiar: You're browsing the Web or multitasking on a project when suddenly your computer refuses to cooperate. It freezes or lags so badly that it may as well have locked up completely.

If your Windows-based computer's performance suddenly takes a nose dive or just stops working completely, don't lose your cool. One of the most important steps to getting it back up to full speed is to know exactly what the computer was doing when it failed.

Do you remember what website you were visiting, which software program was running or which button you just clicked? Do you know how many programs were running at the same time?

Maybe the memory overloaded because there was too much going on at one time, or your system crashed and froze the computer. Either way, you need to get to the bottom of the problem to find a solution.

Next page: Now there's a free program that can do just that.
