I've told you in the past how to get the most out of your keyboard and mouse - click here for the five mouse tricks that will make your tech life easier.

But what if your mouse doesn't work quite like you want? You might want it to move a bit faster, or the extra buttons don't do quite what you want.

In Windows you can go to Control Panel and under "Hardware and Sound" click "Mouse." This lets you tweak a few of the settings - including the cursor speed.

What if you want to do more?

If you have a Microsoft mouse or keyboard - and you're running Windows 8 - Microsoft has a special Mouse and Keyboard Center to help you make the most of your hardware.

You can customize how fast your mouse moves, scrolls up and down pages, and troubleshoot problems. The Mouse and Keyboard center will also update the drivers for your gadgets to make sure your mouse and keyboard are always up to date.

Note: Your hardware must be Microsoft brand for the program to detect it. If you are using a mouse or keyboard that is not Windows brand, the Mouse and Keyboard Center won't do anything.
