It isn’t very often that you get to view a rare manuscript. They’re usually locked up in libraries, museums and other institutions.
But, the Web is slowly beginning to change this. More institutions are digitizing important manuscripts. That means everyone can view them!
So, how would you like to get a glimpse at the Codex Sinaiticus? It is one of the oldest copies of the Bible. It contains the oldest complete copy of the New Testament.
The Codex Sinaiticus is more than 1,600 years old! Several institutions curate the manuscript. They’re putting it online for the world to see.
Portions of the manuscript are online already. The entire manuscript should be up by mid-2009.
Did I mention that the Codex Sinaiticus is in Greek? Parts of it have been translated into English and other languages.
