Starting a serious project is a daunting task. Some you can do without much money. But some projects need funding to get started.
You might only need a few hundred or thousand dollars. But that's a lot when you're broke. And taking out a loan isn't easy these days.
That's where crowdfunding sites like KickStarter come in. You can post your project on the site along with a funding goal. Backers can choose to donate to your project.
You specify an amount of time in which to reach the funding goal. Meeting the goal means you get the funding. If the goal is not met, no money changes hands; you're not obligated to complete the project.
There are tools for keeping your backers up to date on your progress. You will also need to set up a reward for donating. This can be anything you want. However, it should be something tempting to encourage donations.
Notice: We give websites a "heads-up" before mentioning them in our Cool Sites of the Day. Still, my newsletters generate so much traffic that websites sometimes become unavailable. If you are unable to access today's Cool Site now, please try later. It is a working site.
