Product Review and Buyer's Guide: Belkin WeMo Light Switch

Home automation is quickly becoming the new normal and lights are an easy place to start. There are smart bulbs you can try, or even smart switches. This is our Product Review and Buyer’s Guide for the Belkin WeMo Light Switch.

The WeMo uses your home Wi-Fi and the wiring from your current switches to make your lights smart. The Android and iOS app lets you take control from anywhere you can connect to the internet.

Wiring the light switch can seem like a daunting task. But Belkin has videos that guide you through every step of the process. Installation takes about 30 minutes, on average.

Once the WeMo is installed, download the free app and connect your phone or tablet to it. From here you can turn the lights off and on as well as set timers for your lights. The switches also have physical buttons.

For $50, this is a step up from the Switchmate. Although, the Belkin switch doesn’t have a dimmer function either, you do have remote control of your lights, wherever you may be.

If you're just getting started with home automation, the Belkin WeMo is a good buy. It’s easy to set up, easy to use, and relatively inexpensive.
