Product Review and Buyer's Guide: Ozmo Active Smart Cup

It’s not easy to know if you’re drinking enough water, but now the guessing game has come to an end. This is our Product Review and Buyer’s Guide for the Ozmo Active Smart Cup.

The Ozmo Active is a 16-ounce cup with sensors that track water and coffee consumption. It sends the data to a free smartphone app via Bluetooth to help you reach your daily goal. The plastic cup comes in four colors. This smart cup works like a fitness tracker to help you monitor your water intake.

Blinking lights on the cup let you know when you reach different percentages of your goal, as well as when your goal has been met. And if you haven’t had anything to drink in an hour, the cup buzzes six times to remind you.

Your consumption goals are based on your age, weight, height and activity level. For example, I should drink about 18 cups each day, but my colleague, Tim, should drink 23. However, it recommends that both of us drink no more than two cups of coffee.

There are a few shortcomings with the Ozmo Active. The cup takes an hour to go from dead to fully charged, it doesn’t track other liquid consumption like sports drinks or juice and the app sometimes confuses coffee and water.

The app is free, so there’s no harm in downloading it to see how much you should drink. You can even manually add your water and coffee consumption. The cup is on sale for $60 right now from Ozmo, which is awfully steep for a device that only gets it right some of the time. Amazon has a limited stock available for the regular price of $80.
