Bluetooth headsets
Are you looking for the right Bluetooth headset for your cell phone? It is easy to get confused about which Bluetooth headset you should buy.
Prices vary wildly. You can buy one for as little as $20 or $30. Or, high-end prices approach $300. Design is an important consideration when choosing a Bluetooth headset. You want it to fit comfortably. And, the controls should be easy to operate without looking at them.
Bluetooth is a networking standard. Like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth uses radio frequencies to transmit data. It is used to connect gadgets; it isn’t ideal for networking computers.
There are several versions. Version 1.0 was plagued by problems and compatibility issues. The first successful flavor of Bluetooth was 1.1. This was followed by 1.2 and 2.0. Bluetooth 2.1 is awaiting approval from the Bluetooth governing body.
Each version of Bluetooth has gotten progressively better. The later versions are backwards compatible. But I wouldn’t count on compatibility with version 1.0.
Version 1.2 added adaptive frequency-hopping spread spectrum (AFH). What?! Since Bluetooth uses radio frequencies for data transmission, it can suffer interference. It minimizes that by jumping between frequencies. AFH skips frequencies commonly used by other gadgets. So interference is less likely.
