When it's time to sit down and balance the accounts, recording receipts are the worst part. They're all different sizes and some of them can be erased in the extreme heat here in Phoenix.
They're also easy to lose. The receipt you tucked into your pocket to keep safe is now happily soaking in the washing machine.
That's why I've rounded up a few apps to help you keep track of your receipts. Now you can go paperless with ease.
Shoeboxed - If you have shoeboxes overflowing with receipts, why not try Shoeboxed? This app was designed to do the heavy lifting of digitizing receipts. It doesn't just store a picture of the receipt; it enters the data into a database you can access online.
With a free account, you'll be able to digitize five receipts per month. There are other levels of payment that scale up the amount of receipts allowed per month and allow you to mail in physical receipts for digitization.
Expensify - Nobody has to track receipts more judiciously than a business traveler. After every trip, an accurate expense report must be filed, and woe be unto the traveler whose ledger doesn't balance!
Expensify was designed to make expense reports easy, but it's helpful for anybody looking to keep better track of spending. You can snap photos of receipts or sync with your bank accounts and credit cards to save them digitally. You can even record your mileage.
