With the introduction of fingerprint sensors on the latest Android phones made by the likes of Samsung, Huawei, and LG, biometric authentication is now the de facto cool way to log in securely to your phone, apps or make mobile payments through Android Pay or Samsung Pay.

No more fumbling around your virtual keypad for that passcode or password, just place your finger or thumb on the sensor to scan it and if it matches, you're in.

Although fingerprint scanning has been available to Android since Marshmallow, it's still up to app developers to integrate it with their apps. With the millions of apps available on the Google Play Store and the variety of Android gadgets without the fingerprint scanning hardware, it is unlikely that most apps will adopt biometric authentication soon.

Fortunately, you can still put that fingerprint sensor to good use with the Android app Keepsafe.

Keepsafe is actually an app locker that lets you securely lock any application on your phone and unlock it with either a PIN, a pattern, or if your gadget supports it, your fingerprint. It gives you an extra layer of security for specific items on your Android device aside from the lock screen passcode or pattern you've set.

You can protect photos, messages, emails and individual apps and even use it as a Parental Lock to prevent your kids from opening specific apps or performing unauthorized money transactions with your phone. Lock apps like Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat or shopping apps like eBay or Amazon and unlock them with a touch of a finger!
