In case you haven't heard, Facebook recently announced that messaging will no longer be available in the Facebook app. In order to use the messenger feature, users now need to download the standalone Facebook Messenger app.
I told you about this move over the summer, and now it's here. Downloading a separate app for messaging might sound like a bit of a hassle, but it does have some cool features.
Facebook is marketing the new Messenger app as "free texting from Facebook" and the app does look a lot like basic text messaging with some added features. You can even message any of your Facebook friends using a Wi-Fi connection or your data plan. You can also add people from your contacts who aren't Facebook, so you and message them, too.
