I got a funny e-mail this week. It was a viral message, sent to huge clusters of people who then forward it on and on and on. Rather than tell you what it says, I’ll just reprint it. It concerns mouse calibration.

“You should actually do this every year. Even more often is recommended by Kim Komando (the computer guru) if you spend a lot of time on the computer. I was shocked to see how well this works, and how far off mine was!

“To re-calibrate your mouse, click and hold on the Y below, then drag the Y toward the g. If it doesn't work immediately, you might want to clean your mouse, as the calibration is off.

You dumb a**. You'll believe anything

“I'M SURE YOU WILL ALSO RECOMMEND THIS TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS ONCE YOU SEE HOW MUCH SMOOTHER AND BETTER THE MOUSE WORKS AFTER BEING CALIBRATED! AMAZING…”

Re-reading this for the umpteenth time, it still makes me laugh. You can calibrate your mouse, but not by dragging the Y. However, I’ve never calibrated mine, and I bet you haven’t either.

Of course, I had nothing to do with this e-mail. Most of my listeners would notice that right away. I am the Digital Goddess, not the computer guru!

Drag the Y to the G and you’ll see the point.

Anyway, I can’t waste more time on this. I’m working with the former finance minister of Nigeria. He has promised me millions if I send him money for bribes. Life is good!
